Mardwynn's Conclave

The body founded to ensure the independence and safety of Mardwynn's Gauntlet as a place of religious freedoms and political independence.

Structure

The Conclave exist as a delegation of religious leaders from the major faiths and temples of Eternarii. Traditionally, there were five Curates who belonged to the Conclave. These five Curates were the keepers of the major temples of Aocdur, Caravine, Chenical, Provuntul, and Wastru. In more recent times with the continued development of Mardwynn's Gauntlet came the need to represent minor religions and faiths within the conclave. As a result the conclave allows audiences from a keeper of the temples, a single individual elected by the populus of Mardwynn's Gauntlet. Further, the Conclave also hears audience from the Chief of the Guard within Mardwynn's Gauntlet. 
The sole responsibility of the Conclave is to ensure the free worship of religion and belief within Mardwynn's Gauntlet. Through tithe of visitors, merchants and residents, the conclave issue funds to protect and maintain the multitude of shrines that have been built within the Gauntlet.

Culture

The single unifying belief among the Conclave members is that individuals should be free to worship or serve the deity they choose.

Assets

The Conclave do not own Mardwynn's Gauntlet per se, but are considered to be the nominal owners of the settlement. As a result all property entering through the gates and settled within one circular mile of the Auditorium is required to pay tithe to the Conclave.

History

Founded by the very first Paladin Mardwynn on the very site she claimed to have made her oath to Caravine, the Gauntlet would become a place of pilgrimage to make oaths for those wishing to become paladins. During the her reign and the expansion of her Empire, Mardwynn recognised the need for a place of religious freedom irrespective of any geopolitics. Mardwynn thus assembled the first conclave and tasked them with ensuring that Mardwynn's Gauntlet would never fall, or if it did, that it would always be rebuilt as a place of pilgrimage available to all.
