Solomon, Inc.
Make the wise choice.
Although not the first of Earth's businesses to enter the classification of hypercorp, Solomon, Inc carries as much clout as some of the oldest businesses that managed to survive humanity's flight from its home star.
Solomon acquired numerous companies and research institutes as a means of investing itself as the premier leader of interstellar travel technologies. While their competitors produced groundbreaking advances in both subluminal and superluminal travel, Solomon took a different tack: their engineers built the first Fargate.
When the Dyson bubble wounded the sun, the hypercorp took the same measures as the rest of humanity and relocated their headquarters to an extrasolar location. However, Solomon still maintains a surprisingly high presence in the solar system. While most corporations donate resources to the scientific thinktank dedicated to reclaiming the core system, they only do so for PR purposes: none of them think it will succeed. Solomon, meanwhile, funnels more funds into the thinktank than the combined donations of the top 40% of other donors.
The enigmatic board of this massive hypercorp has managed to avoid the public eye for nearly half a century. Cranks and conspiracy theorists claim that the company has unlocked the means of extending human life; others say that the board members don't exist, that their identities are false fronts for the real owners. Still others speculate that the board members are actually a continuum of AI's that direct the company to further its own unknown agenda.
Although influential and prosperous, the Dread years have seen the company's net worth decline as they have failed to produce enough new tech to maintain their market share. If it were not for the royalties on the Fargates, they would likely lose their status as hypercorp.
