Demonic Amulet of Banebdjedet
Several millennia ago, before the rise and fall of the Kumothian empire the Demon Prince, Banebdjedet (Bane), forged an amulet to hold a portion of his essence. This would allow Bane to reform themselves if tragedy should befall him and he was destroyed in the infernal war. This act did not come without hazard however. Should the amulet fall into another beings control Bane could be dominated into submission by that being. Because of this possibility, Bane hid this amulet far away from his adversaries in the infernal war. It was taken to the mortal plane and placed in a tomb of unimaginable horror and cunning. No one except for the great prince himself could get to it, or so he thought.
A group of mortals known as the Holdsmen were intent on keeping the battle for the infernal realms off of the mortal plane. They learned the location of the amulet and and set about on a great crusade to recover it. Though many lives were lost, the amulet was recovered. The remaining Holdsmen built a great castle fortress to house and protect the amulet, Akermouth Hold. Here it was buried under stone, brick and steel. Only the most trusted of the order was even aware of the amulets existence or location.
Over thousands of years the Holdsmen were able keep the secret of the amulet. Eventually only the Holdsman Historians were told what Akermouth hold was truly protecting. No other person in the Holdsmen even know what the purpose of Akermouth Hold is. They train for a war they no nothing about and hold a prize wanted by heaven and hell.
Spread
The myth of the amulet is spread wide, akin to a wives tale, but the knowledge of its location and veracity of the story are known only by a handful of mortals and Bane himself.
