Iquen
An Iquen is a sacred pen that is used to sign contracts with devils. It is used only for contracts of high importance, particularly those involving Archdevils. The Illrigger contracts are all signed with an Iquen.
Manufacturing process
To produce an Iquen, a devil must defeat an angel in combat and then kill them as part of a ritual. The ritual is necessary to imbue the remains of the angel with the magical energies prevalent in Hell. The process also purges most of the holy magic inherent in the angel. The manufacturer must take care not to let the angel expire before its time or to let it be emptied of all its magical energies since that will render the Iquen useless. As part of the ritual the bone from the angel is imbued with a piece of an archdevil's soul.
After the ritual with the angel is finished, the bone is taken into one of the pits to be submerge in hellfire and cast with a coating of Grunspar, then the angel's wings are used to create a handle for it.
The ruling archdevil of each layer of Hell must sign the new Iquen into their central ledger to complete the process and imbue the artifact with dominion over the forces of Law.
Significance
The Iquen is said to hold great power in the realms of Law. Any contract signed with it is bound by a dangerous amount of magical energy that trascends the very planes themselves.

There are only a handful of Iquens in each layer of Hell. They are guarded heavily and only given to those the archdevils trust the most.
