Ahn-Dathani Clans: Sand and Gold

The Ahn-Dathani are a group of tribes that roam the deserts of Ahn. They roam the roads with skill and cunning, always on the lookout for new resources, new products, new markets, and new customers. Wherever the clans pass, markets spring up, trade flourishes, and the strange and wondrous goods once thought forever lost in the sands of Ahn are offered. The clans are so involved in the business of Esleon that it is said a tiny portion of every transaction somehow flows into their coffers.   While their preference is bartering, the clans also offer their soldiers as mercenaries. With their fierce, hardened swordarms forged in the hot sands, their cavalry mounted on bipedal lizards that give them a speed advantage, and their deeply ingrained warrior culture bolstered by their legends of Swordsaint Jaharo, they are a formidable and frustrating foe. Even their great cities can move, sitting on the backs of huge beasts of burden. -- a feat unmatched by any other nation.   Patient, clever and cunning, the clans offer their skills to other nations -- both in trade and war -- when the coin is good.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Most Ahn-Dathani are from the ancient empire of Ahrintar and speak Ahrinti, the language of their homeland, although the common tongue is also taught at a young age. They are great lovers of luxury and their movable palaces are noted for their opulence. Racing is one of the most popular pastimes among them, and wealthy travelers pay thousands of gold pieces for mounts from the rest of the world. Despite the wonders of their homeland, they possess an insatiable wanderlust that drives much of their trade with far-flung lands.

Art & Architecture

The Ahn-Dathani are skilled weavers, often using rugs and carpets to display their great feats of artistic creativity instead of a canvas. When they set up a market, the common peoples often live in tents next to them and while they move from one trade spot to another, they live among their leaders in great stone palaces and fortresses built in the back of Mathraks.

Common Myths and Legends

Perhaps the most famous legend of the Ahn-Dathani is that of Jaharo, the sword saint. It is said that he was born of a fallen star and a simple carpet weaver, that he taught the first Ahn-Dathani tribes how to tame the great beasts with which they moved their cities and how to imbue their weapons with the sun itself.
