New Idosa
New Idosa is a thriving elven city, built around utilizing the Yellowstones to power their technological marvels. The city sits at the northern edge of Falton Wood and is surrounded by multiple large floating rocks. Despite the city's tech industry, the infrastructure is fairly basic, with only a few shops utilizing unique technology. The city guard is armed with magic-infused artifacts to keep the peace and defend from outside threats. The leader of the city is Cheif Argean Saida. She runs the city, with a handful of Artificers who each manage their own district and supply the guards with their weapons. Many civilians, practice artificery on their own, but most can't hold up to the quality of Cheif Argean Saida's. Most send out for custom parts from the main warehouse as their lack of training leads to less than quality products. However there are a few shop owners and business people who have a natural talent when it comes to making things, and those are the top shops in the city. Clink n' Clank, Dame of the Flame, and Erna & Aedi Ironworks, are the top shops with everyone else paling in comparison.
For the past 94 years, they have had a reoccurring competition with their sister city to the south, Olde Idosa. The competition consists of 2 people from each city racing through the falton wood on Gryphhounds to be the first to arrive at the opposing city's town square. Falton wood is filled with traps both mechanical and magic-based to give the racers the thrill of risking their lives for glory. The distance between the two cities is about 300 miles, so it usually takes the racers three to four days to finish the race. After that, there's a week of rest for the racers and the Gryphhounds before they race back to the previous city. The winning racer grants their home city the title of "Superior City" until the next race is complete, in which the title would shift to the corresponding city's winner. The cities see the competition as incredibly important and spectacular, but the outsider perspective usually leans toward it being petty and to frequent. The week of each cities race is filled with events, and activities throughout the town with drones and projectors throughout the city showing the progress of the race. On the last day of the race, the entire city gathers in their favorite haunts, and watches as the racers run into the opposing city square, and culminates in a day of celebration.
Outside the race, the city is the largest manufacturer of airships to the lower continent. They make multiple different styles all with the buyer's personal customizations. Airships are a practical form of travel across long stretches, but the common folk has a hard time affording them. They're typically reserved for the wealthy and powerful, and used in more leisurely affairs.
