The Scathach Accords

The contents of these documents are to bring an end to the wars plaguing Ervelust. Arcane workings, the source of more battlefield deaths than mundane means will also be assessed, addressed, and regulated for the continuation of life. Guidelines for the treatment and care of sick, injured, and fallen combatants will also be addressed. It is our hope that these articles will prove to be to our mutual benefits.

Article 1: The Use of the Arcane Artes in War
Magic, being the powerful tool that it is, has been widely used to wipe out vast numbers of men and women in an instant. The Schools of Evocation, Necromancy, and Conjuration have been particularly effective in this regard. As such, to ensure the continued survival of all peoples, the ratification of this will limit these destructive forces.
Necromancy is to be banned in warfare, as an ever populating army of the dead is a crime against nature and life. Evocation magics are to be restricted so to ensure that entire battalions aren't incinerated, frozen, or electrocuted. The conjuring of large elemental beings is likewise to be forbidden.

Article 2: The Treatment of Prisoners of War
Capturing persons of rank has always been a priority in strategic warfare. It is important, for the continuation of life, that certain rights are alloted to those in such a situation.
Medical care is to be provided to those that are sick or injured, whether by priest, apothecary, or druid. Proper sustenance is to be provided. Captured persons are not to be slaughtered en masse. Captured war priests and paladins are required to aid their captors when asked, so long as this does not compromise their Oath or religious beliefs.

Article 3: Civilians in Warfare
To further ensure the survival of life, civilians are not to be the target of any assault made. Collateral damage, while frowned upon by most gathered, is inevitable and will be investigated l to see if it could have been invaded. The investigation will be conducted by a paladin of Bahamut sent by a neutral party. Civilians, if captured are entitled to the same rights as those prisoners captured from an opposing army, with the addition that they are to be released as soon a possible.

Article 4: Rights of the Fallen
The raising of the dead is blasphemy in the eyes of several deities, taboos to many nations, and a crime against nature. As such, the dead are to be put to rest in accordance with their proper funerary rites. The raising of the undead shall be met with extreme force from all ratifiers of these Articles.
