Wailer
Wailers were first created by Allatu herself for use as weapons on Salbatanu. They serve Necromancers as guardians, assassins, and specialized warriors.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Wailers have been warped by the curse in their bodies. Their mouths extend beyond human limits, and their vocal chords are incredibly complex. They hunt using sound above and below human hearing, which they are capable of emitting all at once to accompany their signature scream.
Genetics and Reproduction
Wailers are created by Necromancers. The process is intensive and prolonged. Most attempts fail utterly.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Wailers eat the soft tissues of their victims, primarily the soft organs such as the intestines and stomach. The curse that animates them requires these and their high acidity to thrive.
Biological Cycle
If a wailer cannot feed and begins to starve, they will bury themselves in the ground, preferably somewhere near or beneath running water. They will remain in this dormant state indefinitely, until a sufficient meal dies near their resting place.
Behaviour
Wailers are warped by their creators. They experience a deep and effective rage and hunger for all sentient beings. The mechanism for control varies by Necromancer, but their maker is often the only mortal they will not intentionally harm or hunt.
Additional Information
Domestication
Some Necromancers instill a deep sense of loyalty in their creation, others prefer fear and respect, while others actively seek love.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Wailers can hear both infrasound and ultrasound.
