Vext
Vexts are undead risen from those who died of Vampirism but were not buried in moist soil. Whether they were left under a bush, died in bed without loved ones, laid to rest in a sepulchre or buried in desert sands or peat bogs, they rise again not as the perennial bodies of immortal Vampires, but shambling in their own original form as desiccated but all too aware corpses.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Vexts are humanoids, their flesh dehydrated and the fungus that permeates it thirsty and desperate.
Genetics and Reproduction
Vexts cannot produce a Vampirism infection, and are dead ends for the strain.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Vexts require fluids from the living. Blood, brain fluid, even the mucus and the juice of the marrow.
Biological Cycle
If a Vext doesn't get the fluids that it requires, it begins to wither. The withering eventually results in the Vext being unable to move and entering a state of semiconscious torpor. They are somewhat aware in this state.
Behaviour
Vexts are domineering monsters, always thirsty and always looking for their next meal. Their existence is a horror, even to themselves.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
When hydrated, Vexts' sernsory organs function much as they would in life. From the moment they are satisfied, their senses begin dulling until their eyes have shriveled to raisins in their skulls. The only sense they never lose is the ability of the Undead to sense the energy of the living.
