Saint Delos Martinei

"So you want to know about Saint Delos. Tell me, what have you heard about the Knightly Order of Delos? Before I go telling you what I know, best to not cover the same ground twice..."
— Sage Aman Tyrel
Most of what is known about Saint Delos is based entirely on texts and other fragmented knowledge recovered throughout the area around Parseil and the Broken Spine Mountains. There are numerous names attributed to him, such as Saint Delos, Sir Delos Martinei, or Saint Delos Martinei. All of these appear to refer to the same individual, who was responsible for founding the Knightly Order of Delos. The information about the founding is fragmented, but it is known there were seven warriors (or soldiers) who were party to a divine experience and swore to follow a new code of conduct as dictated by Delos. These became the first of the Delian Knights, though from here historical records have not been found until the heyday of the Knightly Order in Parseil.

The matter of his death is also one which needs more information. It is known he lived until the knights became protectors of Parseil, but he was supposedly killed on a sortie outside of the city. Recovered stories told through oral tradition from local tribes say this happened during a battle near one of the northern spurs of the Broken Spine Mountains. A large group of minotaurs was starting to become a threat to Parseil and other local settlements, and so the Delian Knights marched out with a force of volunteer militia to eradicate the threat. They discovered the minotaurs had been expecting them, and it became quite a bloody battle. During the fight, Grand Master Delos fell in single combat against the minotaur's champion, and the other knights fought to retrieve his body, banner, and weapon.

Chronologically following this account, Grand Master Delos became 'Saint Delos' in many later manuscripts, and it is mentioned his bones were encased in stone to keep them safe and preserved. The Delian Tombs were built outside of Parseil to house both this reliquary and the preserved corpses of other knights who fell in battle. Once the city fell, the reliquary was moved to an undisclosed location. Recent discoveries by the Allied Adventurer's Guild have found a second Tomb of Delos, but not the reliquary.

Hi there! You may not know me, but I am the sponsor of the Great Leader of Their People Summer Camp Prompt this year! Since you wrote this article, I would like to know, would you mind me reading it aloud on my Twitch channel this week? I have a lot to get through so it helps to do it live while people watch. I've scheduled to go live at 8am and 8pm Eastern Time every weekday. If you join and comment, I can go over your article right then and there! If you'd like to coordinate a specific date, let me know. If you aren't able to make it (or don't want to be present live), you can also always watch streams after the fact on my YouTube channel   BUT, if the answer is NO because you'd rather I not, it's okay! Not agreeing to be streamed definitely does not put you at any disadvantage for winning in my eyes. Please respond swiftly by replying here (make sure to click REPLY under my comment or I won't be notified), message me on my World Anvil profile page, Discord, or anywhere else you find me online.   Thanks again! Whatever you choose, God bless and much success! <3

Really sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.   I don't mind you doing this! I would have replied sooner but I've been in the middle of moving a household. It's been a whirlwind getting settled in and I had to let several pieces of my routine "wait" while I was working on getting the household running smoothly again. (Or some approximation thereof!)

No worries at all. I appreciate the response and the permission! Congrats on the move and I pray things calm down for you soon. <3 Have a blessed one!

I cannot seem to locate the means to message you via WA's system, so... most weekdays I am unavailable at those times thanks to work scheduling. I can, however, do my best to show up Monday (Aug 22) in the evening. Naturally, plans may change for these times but we'll see!
