Sanguine Distillers

Sanguine is the basis of many alchemical advances that have revolutionised the world of Errilor. A strange red liquid with mysterious properties, it is often seen in apothecaries, laboratories and potion stalls across the globe, and it is instantly recognisable by its faint crimson glow.   The myriad properties of sanguine have not yet been fully explored, and new discoveries are made each year by fortunate (or sometimes unfortunate) researchers. The defining property of this ichor is its ability to mimic the essence of its environment, biological or mineral, and as such is the primary ingredient in healing salves, highest grade mortar and potion refineries.   Due to the high demand of such a substrate supply was often lacking, until the Sanguine distillers were first produced. Soon, huge copper domes could be seen in every nation, with wagons of bottled crimson being delivered to every town and village. Without these colossal refineries it is certain that many lives would have ended, many keeps would have fallen into rubble, and many arcane advances would have remained unkown.

Utility

The raw ingredients are loaded into separate openings on the flattened top of the dome, whilst wood or coal is shovelled into hopper like openings near its base, directly into the furnaces. Pipes on the opposite side of the dome pump sanguine into waiting barrels which are then delivered to the local trade hub. Here, they are sent or sold by the owners of the distillery to the consumer
Complexity
Those workers enlisted to build the pipes and pulleys within the distilleries have all claimed to have seen miles of piping, glass spheres, braziers, crystal orreries and gears the size of grains of sand, all being assembled together to form the monstrous organism within the belly of the refinery. Though none have seen the final work of Namfoodle, experts agree that it must be a strange and intricate step that can conflate the complexities of these various mechanisms.
Discovery
The process of distillation was discovered by a rock gnome named Namfoodle, who has kept the process a tightly guarded secret, insisting on finishing the final stage of each distillery personally before permanently sealing the copper dome.
