Coming of Age

When Dazek was 16, he was on a hunt with one of the hunters from the village. He got up early with Karlon and headed towards the Mountains of Zulian. There, Dazek was to prove he was a man and ready to go on hunting parties on his own. He learned from Karlon how to mark the trail where they came from so they knew how to get back home. He learned how to spot signs of wildlife on the ground to help him with his tracking. Karlon taught him what animal made what shape. Dazek was a quick learn, and was answering all of Karlon's questions quickly and confidentally. The animal that Dazek was being trained to track was the wild beast of the Mountains of Zulian. The claw of the wild beast sharp enough to be used for knives and other weapons. The teeth are used for arrows due to the razor sharp points the wild beast's teeth shape to. The pelt is then used footwear and gloves since the skin of the wild beast is extremely tough. The meat is then cured with salts and eaten on the hunt.

Karlon and Dazek spent most of the day traveling, and when started tracking the wild beast in the Mountains of Zulian. Karlon spotted the beast and told Dazek to be quiet. Dazek stood there with his bow and arrows ready to fly. Karlon told him to aim between the wild beast's breast to get to the heart. Dazek pulled back his arrow and aimed. The arrow struck a shoulder of the beast. The wild beast then spotted what was attacking it and started charging for the two hunters. Karlon went for his knife and tried to protect himself, but the beast was too fast and got to him first. The beast went for the throat and took a chunk of Karlon with it's first bite. Dazek was stunned and turned around and started running. He ran back to the edge of the forrest. He didn't turn back to help Karlon. After everything that he had learned from Karlon, he got scared at the sight of the attack instead of helping out his fellow hunter. Leaving his fellow hunter in the forest meant that he was not man enough to face the wild beast, and therefore unable to complete the coming of age ceremony for killing his first wild beast.
