The Fall of the Free City of Seese
The Free City of Seese sat cradled in the Barere Mountain Range not far downstream from the source of the Yooma River. This Free City was the first- a place apart from the governments of mortals. It was a blueprint for the others, and the center of worship for the entire Seese Pantheon.
In the east, the New Life Fellowship, also known as the Church of New Life, rose to power by first strengthening Seese worship, transforming this powerful yet enigmatic deity from an aloof parent to the One Deity, and then replacing Seese by mutating the core essence of the Being to their own agenda. The Free Cities on the western continent stood as bastions against the Church's erosion tactics.
In the west, several cells of the missionary wing for New Life Fellowship, Life Blood Ministries, were deployed across the sea, each to act on their own orders to destabilize the city. Blue faction was to investigate and divert the water source, Yellow faction was to stir popular unrest, and Red faction was to infiltrate the guard ranks. Free Cities do not have standing armies, per se, but the city guard is usually well trained and generally devout, sometimes to the point of fanaticism; this was true in the Free City of Seese.
The factions worked independently. Red was the first to arrive, allowing them to enter service slowly. Yellow came next and was able to destroy food stores by various means and disrupt resupply, resulting in famine. Blue implemented the final step, and it was only when Blue was ready that the teams come together to execute their action. Blue diverted the river, cutting of the city's water supply. This was a tipping point for the hungry populous who began to riot. When the guards were called out to quell the riots the embedded Red slaughtered their fellow guards and inflamed the rioters. Under the cover of the unrest the teams demolished key buildings and ultimately reduced the city to rubble.
