The Academy

The Academy is the largest school in Nemel, and it is most famous for being the institution through which the Nemeli knights are trained. It is located within the capital, Ballycay, near the castle and is run by a Superintendent who is usually a knight that has been retired from active rotation.
Page School begins at age 7. Enrollment is open to all at no cost, however there is a cost associated with room and board, as the school has no dormitories. There are organizations in the capital that exist to help with the costs. Retention is performance based.
Between ages 13 & 14, pages that meet required criteria can move on to Squire school or Scholar school, however those who desire a profession in crafting will likely opt for an apprenticeship. The two schools are really just divisions within the Academy to track student schools. Squire school is the only choice for those wishing to join a chivalric order. Scholar school is good choice for anyone who wishes to continues their studies without the marital segment, such as those who wish to join the clergy. It is also important to keep in mind that the knights are not just martial, and many trades can be learned through joining their orders, most notably tanning mage leather, construction, and ship building. There is a lot of course overlap between the two schools.
Titles are granted at age 19+; knights bachelor are eligible to join a Knightly Order.
There are also local schools for up to age 12 when apprenticeships would begin in smaller cities and towns; most Portalder apprenticeships go to students from The Academy.
