Tieflings

Summary

Tieflings are a relatively young race in Erellon existing for less two thousand years. The exact way in which the first Tieflings were born is unknown; however, it is known that they are a result of pact between a group of humans and one of the lords of hell. It is believed that the humans had made a pact that if they were to serve the lord they would be given immense power. This power came at a high price and the infernal lord cursed the power to alter those who used it. The majority of Tieflings remained neutral during the mage wars but there were some who fought on the side of the Phoenician Empire.

Physical Appearance

Once humans, Tieflings were mutated from humans who made a pact with one of the lords of hell for power. This power corrupted and mutated those who used it. Tieflings are a humanoid species with infernal blood that gives them a more hellish appearance. Tieflings have two horns of various shapes and sizes sprouting from their heads and a long, muscled tail with a hard, sharp spike on the end that can be used to impale their foes. A Tieflings skin color can vary from from shades blue and purple to orange and red, while some even have skin that is black like the night. The texture of a Tiefling's skin can vary from a traditional human-like skin to a scaly, lizard-like feel. Tieflings also have pointed ears similar to those of the magical races but are much shorter in length. Many people are suspicious of Tieflings because of their infernal appearance making it hard for them to integrate into society well.

Tiefling Craftsmanship

Tieflings have a societies and traditions that are much like those of humans. This includes the styles of their homes and settlements as well as their choices in clothing. Clothes of Tieflings are designed to accommodate their tails and allow for it to move freely. Tiefling houses and other buildings have doors that are taller on average than human doors so that a Tiefling doesn't hit his or her horns on the door frame. Tieflings take great pride in their weapons and armors. Tiefling armor is designed to allow Tieflings to fight easily in close combat and enables them to utilize their tails as weapons to provide them an upper hand. Tiefling weapons consist of traditional weapons as well as some that compliment fighting with a tail such as a whip, trident or net.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Tieflings have the traditional human traits of two arms, two legs, a torso and a head. What drastically sets them apart is their horns and tails that are very prominent features. Tieflings also have a forked tongue and slitted pupils similar to those of snakes and lizards.

Genetics and Reproduction

Tieflings reproduce in exactly the same way as humans and gestate slightly longer for an average of ten months.

Growth Rate & Stages

Tieflings can live up to 120 years and mature at about the same rate as humans. Tiefling horns begin to grow in at the age of twelve and reach full size once they are 20 years old. When a Tieflings horns are fully matured is when a Tiefling is considered to be an adult in society.

Ecology and Habitats

Tieflings are capable of living almost anywhere but generally prefer warmer and dryer climates.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Tieflings can eat the same things as humans but have a strong desire for meat. Tieflings can digest raw meats safely but prefer it to be cooked. Tieflings are known for their blood ale made with whale blood that has been strained of fats.

Tieflings are humanoids of average intelligence that is in no way considered exceptional but neither are they stupid.

Their slit pupils and infernal blood allows them to see in the dark. Tieflings can sense when dark or infernal magic is being used nearby.

A Tiefling's name generally is an infernal word that reflect his or her infernal heritage. Some Tieflings also simply chose to take traditional human names.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Tieflings are very accepting of all other races and generally will be friendly towards them unless given a reason not to be. The other races however, besides those of abnormal appearances, generally avoid Tieflings due suspicion of their infernal heritage.
