Personal history

Little is known about the early life of Septimus Angelius. He lived in the West of Eregost, though which one of the ancient kingdoms he used to belong to is unknown. When Persephone was taken to the Underworld to be the wife of Hades, Demeter lost all happiness, and the world itself reflected this, plantlife refused to grow and the first winter was born, lasting from 449 to 451. Within the first year, the Western Kingdoms were destroyed as starvation spread through the land. As Hades and Demeter reached an agreement, Demeter's Wrath came to an end, and with it came the first Spring.
Survivors of the collapse of the Western Kingdom scurried for food, without order or unity, and many starved in the chaos. One voice came out of the chaos, offering a solution to the issue: Septimus Angelius. Septimus was imbued with divine power, though the identity of the god that gave him this strength lost to time. Angelius and a group of warriors he brought together from the remnants of the western kingdoms began hunting dragons, their massive bodies allowing hundreds to eat, and the hoards of treasure they looted were used to trade with the recovering Authenian Republic for supplies they could not produce themselves.
Septimus was first named hero. And then named Emperor. He and his following salvaged all they could from the ruins of the Western Kingdoms, and then went about creating their own nation from the ashes of the old one. At first is was just smaller settlements and camps that were being made, but in 465, the construction of Venator Turrim began, lasting 472.
Septimus was a kind and benevolent ruler, and was not opposed to doing work himself. It is said that he himself helped build Venator Turrim, and thanks to his divine powers, he made the construction of the city much faster than it would have been without his help. Septimus ruled fairly, favouring mercy over the brutal justice that would be adopted by future Emperors. Septimus established the original set of laws that the Empire held, helped with the creation of Venator Turrim and funded the creation of Venator Mercurious as well as significantly lowering the dragon population in the West.
Though the Authenian Republic was puzzled as to why the Venatorians would want to live under a monarch, it was clear to them that he was well loved and the relationship between the Empire and the Republic soared under his rule. Septimus made several diplomatic trips to the Republic and was known for his charm and open mind.
In 494, Septimus Angelius died in his sleep, and his Empire was passed down to his oldest son, Tibern Angelius. Every single one of Septimus' decendants shared his divine blood, which gave them the right to rule the Venatorian Empire. The Empire of Septimus Angelius.

Septimus believed that no man, woman, child or god was irredeemable. He believed that there was no way to change our past, and that we should focus on being better in the future rather than let our previous actions define us. He believed that no one could go to the grave happily if they still held grudges in their final moments.

The reign of Septimus Angelius lasted for 43 years, and in that time, he was known as many things. A leader. A hunter of dragons. A holy man. But perhaps most importantly, Septimus Angelius was a peacekeeper. He was a man that favoured kindness over cruelty. The way he saw it, he destroyed his enemies the moment they became his allies.

Family Ties

All three of Septimus Angelius' sons were blessed with the same divine blood that he was, and as such, each of his children bore the right to rule. As would their own children and so forth. It is said that Septimus was a kind father, but his life was so long ago that no one can say for sure.

Religious Views

Septimus Angelius was a devoted follower of the Olympian Gods, as were all who followed him. It is said that of the twelve dragons he killed during the founding of the Venatorian Empire, each one was killed in the honour of an Olympian God.
