Planar Salt, Brain Rats

As you travel through the Kingdom of Ereglast, you may find yourself looking for a fix.  Perhaps the dangers of adventuring have worked on your nerves and you find yourself looking for something to steel your resolve.  Maybe you have just been pick pocketed by a swift handed cut purse and the fear of having to pay your local tax collector is too much to bare.  Either way, you may end up on the seedy end of town with your last remaining gold pieces in your pocket, speaking with a gnome that knows way too much about....spice.
Though there are many different kinds of stimulants in Ereglast ranging from mild to wild, there is one in particular that most should shy away from as its potency is unworldly, literally.  This spice, or drug, depending on your loose usage of the term is called "Planar Salts".  Planar salts are the most potent spice in all of Ereglast, and taking the drug will lead to an out of body experience to another plane of existence.  The problem with planar salts is that they exist on every unworldly plane, which means that if the seedy merchant you purchased your spice from lies to you about which plane they are from, or simply doesn't know which plane they were harvested from, you may end up on a trip to The River Styx bargaining with Charon for your soul, or tortured by lesser demons for fun in the Gray Wastes of Hades.
Though some claim to take Planar Salt with good results and in doing so claim to have spoken with revered gods or blessed by angels, if you snort enough of the spice, you will eventually contract a condition referred to in the realm as "Brain Rats".
It is quite easy to recognize someone who is afflicted with Brain Rats.  Their eyes will be empty, their teeth will be gnarled, mangled, or missing all together.  Bodies of those with Brain Rats are normally frail and weak, but its not the physical conditions that are most alarming.  The mental effects of Brain rats are the worst symptoms.  Symptoms include: excessive nonsensical rambling, random acts of senseless violence, depression, unwarranted rage, sobbing uncontrollably, uncontrollable urination, vomiting, and uncontrollable slobbering.
