Lizardfolk of Stethis Tol

In the central southern forests of Ereglast live a small community of strange beings.  They live in seclusion near the ancient ruins of Stethis Tol.  These beings are the lizard folk.  A humanoid race of bi-pedal lizards that have learned various languages of the realm.  The lizard folk seldom go north from their home, but when they do, they often leave a trail of confusion, betrayal and intrigue in their wake.  
Though none really know how old their race is, ancient carvings of upright lizards can be found in ruins, caves, and dungeons all over the kingdom of Ereglast.  Ruined shrines depicting lizard folk can be found scattered here and there along road sides.  Some believe that the lizard folk once controlled the entire realm, while others believe the ancient carvings were put in those lost places by individuals that have had rare chance encounters with the race that were unforgettable.
What historians do know of the lizard folk are that they are great magic users, usually sorcerers.  They prefer to use magic of the mind.  Charm spells, fear spells, and curses.  For these reasons, those who meet the inhabitants of Stethis Tol normally do not remember fully what happened during their interactions, claiming that their minds were foggy or compromised during their visits.  Often times they say that they felt afraid of the lizard folk, but seldom do the lizard folk create conflict in the realm unless someone has entered their domain.
The most disturbing claims speak of the Lizard Folk making humanoid sacrifices to the dragon gods.  Some claim that their family members ventured to home of the Lizard folk's homeland for reasons of trade or diplomacy, never to return.  Though no substantiated evidence has ever been found to prove those claims. 
For these reasons most travelers leave the lizard folk of Stethis Tol be.  While they can often be standoff-ish, it is of important note that the race is famous for being great at enchanting.  If you happen across a group of lizard folk traders, you may be amazed at their magical wares.
