Ancient Land Deeds

Though not particularly common, some adventurers dragging the deep depths of ancient ruins within Ereglast have been known to find deeds to land.  While most parcels of land throughout the kingdom have been spoken for, every once in a while a hero will emerge from a dungeon delve with a dusty, tatter land deed.  These deeds are often still valid, though there are steps to go through to validate the deeds as forgery through out the realm is not uncommon.   If you and your fellow party members come across a lost library, a dusty old cabin, or a defunct tower or castle, keep your eyes out for valuables other than gold and magical items.  Ancient land deeds can often be just as valuable if not more valuable than an enchanted war axe, depending on the size of the land listed on the deed, or the importance of any structures found on the land.   If you are to find one of these lost deeds you will need to take the document to a notary in one of Ereglast's larger cities to verify the validity of the document.  Depending on the current standings of the deed (others may claim that they rightfully own the land, and then there will be a public hearing to decide who is the rightful owner) after a period of a few weeks should no one challenge your claim for the deeded property, you will receive your holdings and a new deed with your name will be awarded to you.   Be advised however, some deeds may not be worth the trouble.  Recently a young elf woman found a lost deed to a large track of land in the eastern part of the realm.  No one claimed that they owned the land, and so she was awarded the tract.  Upon investigating her newly acquired spoils, she located a cave.  While investigating the cave she was attacked by a red dragon who burned her and her two young children to a crisp.  So take heed, if you are exploring some newly acquired land, it may be a good idea to hire an adventuring party to clear out the rabble and dangerous beasts first.
