Clan Majystine

Clan Majystine was founded by Majyst a great Amethyst Dragon who made his home in the mountains and forests of south central Ioban. With hostile red clans on either side of the mountain domains and two green clans bordering their forests, Majystine has become the most militarized of the Amethyst dragon clans. Clan Majystine has had few conflicts with its neighbors, preferring the deterrent of their military might to force conflicts to be handled with care and diplomacy.

Structure

Clan Majystine is ruled by the Eldest of its host, selected by the council of Elders when ever the Clan Lord or Lady should pass. Male members of the clan are expected to always take a Dragon Rider as their Bonded Kindred, so that they may be ready for war should war danger arise. Vassals families have long military traditions boasting the accomplishments of their most famed Kindred Riders, and putting great emphasis on martial prowess and the skills necessary to be a lethal dragon rider. Majystine also as a result keeps many Drakes for riders to train upon but also expand their arial combat potential.

The remainder of Majystine society is dedicated to the strong defiance of their territory. All vassals of the clan serve for a decade among the armies of their Dragon Lord before moving on to pursue other talents or skills. Clan Majystine honors the great contributions of all members of society to their defense, from masons and their formidable walls, smiths for making the finest arms and armor, to farmers to feed the armies when the need arises to defend their homelands.

Culture

Majystine holds a culture of strong defensive posturing. The greed of their neighbors is well known and insatiable, so their ability to defend their lands and people must be equally as known and powerful. While vassals are free to find their truest path, all of these paths lead to the defense of the realm. Even the arts turn towards the defense of the realm, famous bards and poets become so by entertaining their countrymen who stand watch in the great mountain fortresses, painters and sculptures immortalize the greatest heroes of the Clan so that they may always be remembered.

Public Agenda

Majystine has routinely engaged in local politics to ensure stability in the region. They have actively supported, resisted, or sabotaged their Chromatic and Metallic neighbors, to ensure no one clan gained dominance. They also regularly push their silicate neighbors into their sphere of influence, to help keep the delicate balance of the region. Since the Quieting of Heaven and the Great Slumber, the military command structure of Majystine has assumed the mantle of authority and have put all their efforts into the fortification of the region and defense of their Lords lairs and slumbering forms. They have had minimal diplomatic relation with others near by, refusing almost all foreign entry to their domain while they attempt to understand what has happened.

Assets

Clan Majystine boasts two major urban hubs and a variety of villages and hamlets to support them. Their capital of Majyst in the Mountins which spans both the surface and beneath produces ore and stretches across the peaks housing many Drake aviaries. The city of Antoscera defends the surrounding region which house the primary agriculture and lumber production for the clan. Majysts greatest asset may well be access to many Drakes, their breeding and training, providing their clan a flying cavalry. While no match for a dragon and rider, with all the dragons asleep, Majystine has proven to be the dominant air power in the region.

History

Clan Majystine activley fought the Chromatic dragons in all three Dragon Wars, since each thought it necessary to invade their domains when they refused to help the Chromatic clans in their folly. Despite these conflicts, Majystine holds little animosity as it is simply their chromatic cousins nature. While a balancing voice in the council their solutions tended toward violence and conflict at the first signs of diplomatic failures.

Demography and Population

Majystine found that there were several benefits to the many mortal beings in the world when they went forth to claim their vassals. Dwarven vassals(20%) proved invaluable in making their mountain top cities and intricate cave networks, as well as proven capable and stalwart guardians of their domains. Elven vassals(20%) proved skill diplomats, able riders, and skilled artists. Orcs, were appreciated for their ferocity and aptitude for war(20%). Half Dragons unlike many other clans were early on identified as a great boon to the vassal populations and make up the largest share of clan Majystine vassals(30%). Another oddity for Majystine has been their taking of Human(10%) vassals, while the number has been low, their short life cycles and rapid reproduction has proven valuable in dire times. Humans have also born the brunt of most attacks to their lands as they live and control the border farming regions.

Military

Majystine has maintained one of the larger standing armies in Ioban with Infantry, Cavalry, and airborne elements. Since the great slumber, Majystine has bolstered their army further to ensure the lands of their Lords remains un contested.

Agriculture & Industry

Majystine has established a fairly self sustaining economy, their low land holdings producing crops, livestock, and timber while their mountain holdings produce ore, refine metals, and even harvest subterranean resources.

Infrastructure

Majystine territories have well maintained roads between their varied outposts and their cities, however, approaches from the outside are almost purposefully made more challenging. This hampers trade and tourism, but, the Clan does not seem to worried about this, taking to the air anywhere they need to go with any seriousness, even for Vassals.
