Victoria Sinwrought

Victoria Sinwrought

Victoria was raised amid the twilight of Soan. A child of the streets even though she had a family, but her father was a thug and mother a wench at the Ebon Witch tavern. She had two siblings Gurdur, and Vald. Gurder was older, slier, and wicked, while Vald had a mean brutish demeanor like their father. Victoria was meek, smart and sickly most of her childhood. Her mother helped her learn common chores and how to hold a face, they were close.   It was when Victoria was 13 that her mother was killed by her drunk father. This was the last year her family breathed. Vald was always abusive toward her and her father was no better, but after her mother passed she became the focus of his abuse more than ever. Gurdur had spent many nights with the thieves and thugs to where many were bent around her finger, One night she led a group through the alleys and had them attack random people one of which was Victoria. Her arm was broken in the attack, and when she finally crawled home her father lashed out at her weakness and that she was going to be useless until that arm healed beating her further for her failings.   Several days later she was working her job in the tavern and an ill-looking man came in sitting at a table in one of the darker corners. Victoria's thin frame twisted trying to hide her clearly broken dangling arm. "My name is Victoria, what can I get for you?" wincing as the arm was brushed by a patron. The man looked up from the tome he brought in, "Well aren't you a forsaken thing. Silverspine Gray if you would be a dear," a worming whine came from the man's throat with the words. Returning with the tea the man seemed to pay little notice the coin was laid on the table. As she took it a flash hit her. Her mother standing before her as an old woman she an adult. And a cold hand a grabbed her broken arm and magic threads twisted and with a scream and pop the bones set. "It's a neat trick," the man whined, "But I could teach you how to remove your enemies with far better tricks, if you're interested." The night went on her shooting glances at the man throughout the night. A few hours after he disappeared but a paper was left on the table. Her reading wasn't perfect but she had learned the basics from her mother, "Under the waxing moon at noon if your interested"   After some asking, she found her way to an archway that had a waxing moon embedded in its face around ten. Her shift did not begin until two so she had time to kill. Sitting near the arch noon came and she saw no one then she was pulled into the shadow behind a crate. It was pure blackness rushing by until she landed in a crypt. "Ah, so you decided to come. Most excellent this is your new home. Sorry, can't have unknown variables when you're in my line of work." The sinewy man looked half starved and ravaged by plague. "For your first task take a quill and inkwell and start transcribing this scroll to the other," he said placing two scrolls in her hand one was blank the other had complex incantations scribed on it. She set to work and before she knew it she was done, the man smiled, "Are you certain?" but the scroll was blank the moment she looked back. She looked back to the man it won't be done until it's perfect. Several weeks went by but no matter how identical her writing was she never could get it to stick. She wondered if it was something in her tools. After watching Tybiltzen she realized he had done something to the ink before he started scribing a scroll, his blood went into the ink. After a few hours she finally finished and the original scroll was now blank and her scroll had the text, she seemed to have gained some knowledge from the process she didn't know before, it wasn't something as simple as reciting a book, it as more ephemeral and harder to define.   A few months went by and she gained a better understanding of Tyblitzen's magic and craft. She found there was an understanding of magic bound in her that escaped her ability to explain what she was learning. As secret after secret became a trivial matter she left with four scrolls in hand. Standing in the shadows she cast her spells incapacitating her family. After dragging them to a crypt she cast her final spell, an angry death danced between her family until only the brother was left drained and ravaged he couldn't must the strength to fight. while diminished by the initial contact she was in much better shape than her brother as she wrestled with him and smothered him do death.   She spent the next few years under Tybiltzen learning all she could. About a year after, she met Sir Kynes Blackblade a Grave Knight that owed a favor to Tybiltzen. After a few months, she started spending part of her time training with him in the area around Tybiltzen's crypt. While she never seemed to gain any true measure of his combat abilities he did bestow a fine blade he commissioned infused with the souls of 100 men. The tainted process made the adimantine blade bear a low moan that is hard to define its source while sheathed(DC 25), but when drawn the moan grows louder(DC 15), and with each attack, the blade wails leaving a harrowing green trial. The pommel hold a flawless diamond of great value and radiates wisps of soul stuff as the necromantic magic used in its forging seethes from the weapon.   As the months bore on she trained further forging new clothing into her own personal armory and dominating undead until she had a few stored away including the raised corpses of her family(save her Mother). A month ago Tybiltzen drank his concoction to become a lich it was about a week later when Kynes had finished his final task that he sent Victoria away to acquire some supplies as was the norm as she inspired few questions. Kynes had actually been bound by an effect similar to Geas which was why he had helped Tybiltzen in his endeavors but the last task ended the effect. Free of the effect and enraged a the necromancers actions Kynes killed the necromancer, unknown to him the necromancer was now a lich. Upon returning the knight told Victoria to gather her things this place will be purged. She did so quickly and not a moment later an eruption of flames engulfed the crypt. Knowing very well she stood no chance of controlling or killing Kynes she stood silently. About a week later she received a message on the wind from the now lich who told her he had taught her all he could, it's time she seeks her own fate and to say nothing to Kynes if he ever asks. That all happened two months ago and now she has set out to find new income. She has not seen either since that day, but she isn't quite sure she wants to.
