Personal history
Desdemona was a very happy person. She was extremely successful, and had her own house. Then, she met Rufus. They fell in love and started dating seriously. But Rufus wasn't a great person. He was extremely toxic and overbearing, taking control of everything she did, ate, wore, went, etc. She finally had the courage to leave him, but he didn't get incarcerated for an extended period of time until the Millie Kelsey kidnapping. This left Desdemona free of his toxicity and influence, but she's having difficulty healing...
