Arr'kai

The Arr'kai are a race of forerunner aliens that existed billions of years ago. Meager traces of their civilization can be found littered throughout the milky way. Most of what remains contains technology as marvelous and magical as it is dangerous.

Some Arr'kai still exist in the milky way galaxy, either in a state of suspended animation, as fragmented pieces of bone, or as active -albeit secluded- sobservers of the universe. Those that are found by humans typically disregard their discoverers, and either tolerate their presence until they leave or teleport them away from their presence. It is rare to find openly hostile Arr'kai in space, but not unheard of. The minimal amount of Arr'kai in space that are actually receptive to questions tend to be curt, often giving short answers to questions asked.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The build and scale of each Arr'kai is often very different, but some similarities between them exist. Typically, they represent a vaguely-humanoid form, many meters tall. They posess numerous limbs and unidentified streamer-like appendages extending from their backs. Their faces were covered in a series of slitted visual organs. Being exotic creatures, they possessed no need to breathe or eat in the way that a biological creature might, therefore having no orifices for these functions.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Arr'kai are most commonly found in planets constructed by them during their galactic dominance. In exceptionally rare instances, Arr'kai have been found on desolate planets and even drifting through space telekinetically. In these instances, researchers have left them alone.

Average Intelligence

The Arr'kai possess vast amounts of intelligence and experience thanks to their lifespans and exotic nature. It is believed the very composition of their bodies is capable of processing information in addition to fulfilling other functions, effectively granting them a brain to body mass ratio of 99 to 1.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Arr'kai posess supernaturally acute senses, being able to detect vast frequencies of radiation, exotic energy, vibrations, and chemicals.

Civilization and Culture

Average Technological Level

Before the collapse of their society, the Arr'kai were at once a Kardischev Type 3 Civilization - controlling all energy generated by the galaxy. Their technology could be described as magical and mystifying. Those few Arr'kai that exist insist on keeping the secrets of their technology hidden, and do not elaborate upon its use.

Common Taboos

The reasons are unknown, but

History

Based on the sparse accounts of living Arr'kai and the ascendant Arr'kai, a loose history of their species has been formed.

Creation

The Arr'kai evolved from the life-giving experiments of the precursor lifeforms. While the details and specific information of their creation have been lost to billions of years of time, they still hold the memories of their creators closely.

Dominance

As they matured as a species and mastered the use of technology and noomancy, they would be uncontested in their rule of the galaxy.

Ascendance

After going so far as to have complete control over matter and energy within their galaxy, they did as their creators did and re-seeded the galaxy with life. Afterwards, they 'reset' the galaxy, wiping away as much of their influence as they could, before ascending to the Noosphere where they now reside.

"...What a privledged time you are all in - to peer into the void and be neither blinded by its light nor consumed by its darkness. Young and free, set out to explore the grandiose galaxy you find yourselves in."

- Que'yloth, Orator of the Ascendant Arr'kai when asked a question about their history.
