Valleys of 1000 Hills

One of the most majestic and beautiful sights that i have ever witnessed in my life was the time i was traveling with a caravan through the Oul Mountains.   we had been travelling through pass after pass in those mountains and just as i had begun to believe my legs could no longer carry me we came over a crest and looked down on the valleys of 1000 hills.   the name had always sounded fanciful to my mind, i can tell you that this is not the case. from my high vantage i looked down on 4 massive valleys, each separated by massive spurs jutting out from the Oul Mountains and each valley easily contained 1000 lush hills of the brightest green grass rolling away as far as the eye could see.   the spurs reaching far into the distance put me in mind of claws attempting to grasp the grassland and drag it to feed the harsh mountains appetite for life.

Geography

Four huge valleys wedged between the Oul Mountains and the sea in the West. each valley is separated by spurs jutting off the Oul Mountains.   each valley is very hilly and would be impossible to traverse if it were not for the looming Oul Mountains which acts as a landmark that can be seen from the top of all hills in the valleys.   each valley has dozens of rivers meandering their way between the hills fed from the rains that fall in the mountains flowing west into the far distance beyond sight to the sea.   when the sun is in the West reflecting off the in-numerous rivers the massive spurs that separate the valleys often put those who look down on the landscape in mind of claws grasping the grasslands which bleed the red of the sun.   while this land would be perfect for agriculture the Oul Mountains in the East act as a fence separating the Valleys from the Lands of Oul. the Horses of the Beast-Men are legendary and many a merchant will risk the passes if he may bring back with him a few young Beast-Men geldings in exchange for a few luxury items the beast men fancy.   the mountains however are so harsh that no attempt has been made to invade the lands beyond as the queen of Oul knows she cannot rule lands beyond such a barrier and no army she sends across will belong to her once the regent gets it into his head that he wishes to be king.   Traders from the sea also arrive to trade for horses and leather but the beast-men's refusal to build any ports prevent any large scale trade or settlement from outsiders.

Fauna & Flora

it is believed that when the world was created this land was densely forested and in some places on the steps of the Oul Mountains this is still the case. however much of the land has been cleared over the centuries to become massive rolling grasslands reaching from the Mountains to the Sea far in the West.   the land thus has no natural predators or large animals other than the Cattle and Horses the inhabitants of the land herd across the land.

Natural Resources

The Beast-Men Horses are legendary for their speed and stamina and are highly prized beasts while the leather from the cattle of the beast-men is some of the finest in the world noted for its durability and rich mahogany coloring. Merchants often risk the mountains or the treacherous coasts to acquire these in exchange for luxuries such as dyes which the beast-men value highly
