Gran Kesh

The northeastern region of Eoth is dominated by the Duchy of Gran Kesh. Gran Kesh good trade relations with its neighbors, but tenuous political ones. The capital of Gran Kesh is Tarkesh, ruled by Queen Argoanna.

Gran Kesh is primary human, especially in the capital. The queen rules with a hard hand, is intolerant of political discord. She is a proponent of human rights; humans obey a different set of laws than not-human races, who are beset with additional restrictions and taxes. These non-humans are tolerated at best. Those who speak out against the perceived unjust behavior tend to... disappear. A handful of these end up as political prisoners in Estemont.

These throne also promotes a rhetoric of animosity toward the once-ally, Gadlinook. The warmongering attitude is not widely embraced, since many citizens of Gran Kesh have close kin in Gadlinook, yet many are being conscripted and trained for battle.

Between the suppression of the non-human races, the antagonizing of Gadlinook to the east, and the land-grabbing of the Dorian Grasslands grasslands to the west, many feel (but rarely speak) that Queen Argoanna's rule is precariously balanced.
