Estemont
Set far from the cares of the cities and kingdoms, Estemont is a small keep on the northeastern fringes of civilization. Estemont serves - loosely - as a Duchy serving the kingdom of Gran Kesh.
Estemont serves primarily as a guard outpost, keeping watch over the northeastern passage. There has been very little activity on this trail; the seasonal trade with the mountain peoples, comprised primarily of furs and gems, has largely stopped. The reason for this is unknown.
Estemont is also known for its remoteness and scenic vistas. It is considered a right of passage for young nobles to make a trek to Estemont as part of their cultural broadening. This brings a dozen or two caravans per year with money aplenty to spend on the few amenities that the town has to offer, including scenic tours, hot springs, and fact that they can say they've been there.
Lastly, Estemont is a penal colony for non-dangerous felons. Well-behaved convicts are given free reign, provided they maintain their parole. The lord of keep, Lord Razman uses a heavy but just hand, and, for the most part, Estemont is peaceful.
The guard: a few regulars (a score or so), and some irregulars
What would bring someone to Estemont? It attracts a variety of races, those tired of being treated as outcast in other regions.
