Session 39: Renewal of the Call

An entry in Fjardlt's Journal...   This is a strange day – I feel a lightness in my soul, a renewal of my convictions, but at the same time I am still confused. I am starting to realise that sometimes confusion and conviction go hand in hand.   I still hold so, so much resentment to what happened with my father. Knowing that my mother lied, knowing that Breyraa found out and never told me. Knowing that, as a clan, we lie to children in the name of protection. And not only that, but that we lie unkindly.   But there are greater things than my resentment. I do not agree with my father, and I may never forgive him, but I also know that were I to allow that resentment to fester into hatred, were I to accept the Earl's bargain and become Baron of my own clan...   Where will I be poised to help? How can I ensure that my people do not have to lie to their children again?   I think this is the sort of world that I would like to see. That I would like to lay a few stones towards building. Unkindness, violence, deception – these things are introduced by people who believe that the hearts of people are innately cruel.   They aren't. I've seen people do better. I know we can do better.   I will remain Fjarldt of Clan Erudak for now – until such a day comes that we are all part of one greater clan. Clan Erudak will treat its children better, and, if I can set the wheel into motion, the rest of the world may follow.   Onto the next task: getting the freed Outlaws to safety, and putting a stop to Aymon's violence.
