Lizardfolk Cuisine

History

Lizardfolk have always enjoyed food one of two ways. They either eat their food raw or they grill their foods in heavy spices. Throughout their history eating food raw has been the more common way, especially for the lower classes. However, recently the cities in Madrinvor have experiences enough economic prosperity that has allowed even the commoners to supplement most of their diet with fine grilled meats and vegetables. Wealthy lizardfolk can enjoy a vast array of exotic spices from all over the world but they usually prefer ones that add a heat or spiciness to the flavor. To the other races these spices can sometime be overpowering , especially to those used to milder diets such as the Oodvir.

Raw Lizardfolk cuisine

Although lizardfolk are technically omnivores they much prefer a carnivorous lifestyle. Walking through the streets of Tlanextli one can find street vendors selling fresh fish in the harbors and freshly killed boar or other hunted game in the markets districts. Often times these raw foods are taken home or eaten on the spot raw with little fanfare. Though found delicious to the citizens it is currently in style to grill their meats with various spices and vegetables to create a hot and flavorful dish.

Grilled cuisine

Lizardfolk grilled cuisine is famous even outside the Mercurian subcontinent. Though people might barely no of lizardfolk they have definitely heard of the spicy and exotic grilled barbecue that is famous in their cities. The tales of their food come mostly from travelers and from the rare lizardfolk who have chosen to move to Westreach and start up work as a street vendor. Lizardfolk barbecue uses many different types of meat but the most common are fish and boar. As there are no cattle in Madrinvor true lizardfolk barbecue does not have any beef.
