Augeon

Comforts of home are the goals of most halflings' lives: a place to settle in quiet, far from marauding monsters and clashing armies. Others form nomadic bands that travel constantly, lured by the open road and the wide horizon to discover the wonders of new lands and peoples often following the guidance of Atara. Halflings work readily with others, and they are loyal to their friends, whether halfling or otherwise. The city of Daruin is a compact but well-defended halfling city home to the Green Ivory Mines. This city is located on top of the only known mine of Augeon.

Description

Augeon is a lightweight, bone-like metal with a green shimmer illuminated by candles or magical sources of light. Considering it is a more esoteric substance, it could easily be mistaken for regular ivory.

Uses

Augeon is commonly used by Halflings in the creation of small figurines, engraved plates, or the pommels of weapons, often in the shape of various symbols of nature. If a piece of magical jewelry or other decorative item made from this material came into contact with the wearer's skin, it would confer to the wearer a limited ability allowing them to see through minor illusions. Armor crafted from the metal offers formidable protection from fire, and weapons strike with an icy frost.

This unique metal was not suited for the creation of items that were meant to carry an enchantment related to flame, such as a sword intended to burst with flame on a strike.

Creation

The creation of this material is relatively unknown. The city placed upon the mines discovered it and is the only known source of Augeon. It is believed to be, by those who have researched it, the enchanted remains of an ancient colossal creature that once roamed the lands. Many impossibly large skeletal fragments have been discovered. But to recreate and piece together the skeleton would be extremely difficult due to extensive mining and export of the greatly sought-after material.

Additionally, large, teeth-like peices, have been founded scattered through Cruyan in riverbeds and other random locations.
