Renouncement of Imperial Authority
The so-called 'Renouncement of Imperial Authority' was the letter sent by the seven founding merchant dukes of Grand Vailia to the Ramerian Empire, declaring their independence and stating their intentions to occupy swathes of Imperial land, thereby also serving as a formal declaration of war onto the quickly crumbling Empire.
While this was considered unjust and dishonourable, Colonel Altea managed to convince the Dukes to start their military expansion even before the letter was sent and received by the Emperor, giving them a valuable edge.
It is with great remorse and sadness that I have to inform you of the fact that the Merchant Dukes of Vailia can no longer support your war effort and will be forced to withdraw their support from the Ramerian Confederation of Cylia, as this war has clearly proven that our continued existence both as state and people are under immense threat as long as we are bound to the whims of outside forces.
The streets are filled with angry peasants - mostly women, the young, and the infirm, as the rest died with you on Trelas V - who demand justice and independence, and while the ducal chambers and higher houses are considerably more civilized, as is befitting their station, they repeat the same demands. As such, we see our hand forced to not only take full control of our own foreign policy in order to prevent any further senseless wars, but also to take as much territory of what was previously considered a de-jure part of the Ramerian Empire under our own control to liberate the poor people still living under your yoke.
Forever saddened to have to bear these news, we still remain eternally friendly to the wise house of Rameria, Signed, The Seven Merchant Lords
