Large tiered city alongside a mountain. Above floats another components of the city on its own levitating island. This island is known as the Indigo Isle. Mages use portals to get around between the Indigo Isle and Carthenon proper.

History

Carthenon was founded by the Eoran migrants following the disaster at Terralia. Led by the charismatic and devout Arkaros, the Eoran people built up Carthenon, also known as [I]Deliverance[/I] in the Orani tongue, to be the center of their new world. Carthenon was one of the first cities to truly cultivate a cultural appreciation for magic, and quickly became the epicenter of magical schooling and development in all of Leonaar. By the Third Epoch, Carthenon had risen to a position of power exceeding that of the human kingdoms to the west.

Architecture

The architecture is fairly eastern in appearance, with spiraling minarets, sandstone temples laden with purple, pink, and azure accents. Each structure has a sort of magical glow to it and even the stone seems to reflect light.

Geography

Located at the edge of the plains of Aeliathor, most of Carthenon is on the plains themselves, with a sharply rising mountain immediately adjacent to the eastern edge of the city.
