Lionhead Locket

The Lionhead Locket is a golden amulet in the shape of a lion's head worn by only the most elite adventurers endorsed by the Adventurer's Guild. It represents courage, bravery, and honor fought for and well-earned to those who receive it.
Though the locket is made of solid gold, it is illegal to attempt to purposefully sell or trade it under the threat of disbandment of the party and a large bounty placed onto the seller's head.
During festivals and promotions of the Adventurer's Guild, many children are often thrown small, yellow chunks of cheap metal crudely shaped into the head of a lion to motivate them to join, with the promise of a real fortune and Lionhead Locket awaiting them when they grew up and set their sights to the horizon.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The locket has more sentimental use than mechanical, a simple amulet on a gilded string with the lion's jaw serving as a clasp to open and close the locket. Though given to the adventurer empty, the recipients typically put some sort of prized memento inside, such as a claw from their first kill or a portrait of their fallen compatriot.
