Scumbags

Basic Information

Anatomy

A Scumbag is a large, slug like creature, with an extremely thick, dark blue leather for skin. Its internal "organ" is a dense blue slime that glows slightly. It has a central vision orb in the center of its "head", and right below this is a series of stitches that can open up like a "mouth", allowing material to enter the slime and for slime to leave the creature. It is about 5 feet long, 2 feet tall, and 2 feet wide. It has no bones, and there are a few "organs" floating in the slime, but their purpose is unknown, just that they are vital.

Genetics and Reproduction

It reproduces asexually once every 5 or so years, leaving behind a leather polyp after eating that will eventually develop into another Scumbag.

Growth Rate & Stages

Its polyp grows for about 1 month before becoming a very small Scumbag, and it then continues to grow infinitely. An "adult" scumbag is usually 5 years old. It doesn't seem to suffer from senescence, so it grows and grows until its food source cannot withstand its size.

Ecology and Habitats

It prefers fossilwater environments, and consumes any organic material and some soft inorganic materials. It is very hardy, and can survive in most environments.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It consumes dead organisms and soft inorganic material such as clay, though it gets more sustenance from the organic material. It is able to open its mouth to about half the size of the creature.

Biological Cycle

As it grows, it tends to round out, and some of the most venerable Scumbags are massive slime balls with a vision cone.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

It has poor sight, but it has decent hearing, though it cannot understand distinction in noises, only in their locations and volumes.
Scientific Name
Scumbag
Origin/Ancestry
Slime
Conservation Status
It is a pasture "animal", and thus is very widespread. Since they produce asexually, extinction is very difficult. They are used as beasts of burden for common people due to their hardiness and ability to eat nearly anything.
