Republic of Durost

Structure

The Republic of Durost is a republic in which any member of the Citizenry can represent any other Citizen at their request and can be elected to do so for any Non-Citizen.  Representation is at the council where all others who have political business and are Citizens can put forth their proposals and vote on others. Their is not normally any more structure than Citizen or Non-Citizen

Culture

Just as all stone has a purpose all people do as well. But be sure not to use weak stone for support.

Assets

Reasonably wealthy, a competent military, and fortifications that stopped the Dragon Council, the Republic of Durost has sufficient Assets to not need worry about most surface threats.

Demography and Population

Mostly concentrated near their cities there a few outpost or settlements. Given the three dimensional nature of underground living it is frequently easier to expand a city than to start a new one. About 2/3rds are Citizens.

Territories

As a rule the Republic of Durost claims the entirety of the mountain range, even if no Dwarven cities are particularly near. The exception is the portion around where the Dragon Council's City was, that they grudgingly cede is no ones, yet.

Military

In order to be a part of the Citizenry you must serve in the military. Thus most young Dwarves join and are taught to fight.

Foreign Relations

The Republic of Durost has good relations with most of the continental nations. New Haven is considered far away but otherwise quite pleasant. Tevant'ial is an unfortunately prudish Country, but some of them are alright. The Kingdom of Amur is dull as can be but they keep their promises and wont be staying long anyways. The Motherland is a funny place full of the funny little Dragonborn, cute and fierce they're probably the best of the new races to the continent, just too bad they have such broad infighting.

Agriculture & Industry

While the fungal gardens are quite a marvel they fail to make up enough foodstuffs to support the populace. Ore on the other hand they have aplenty. Smelted in ingots and alloys, forged into structure and substance, the industry is metal.

Education

Most of the population is educated by their parents and family, though their is a brief academy that does ensure the basic minimums are met when entering the military.

Major Exports
Mostly made up of Metal ingots and clockwork. Metal ingots are usually shipped to the Dragonborn who are closest and are good enough at turning an ingot into a tool that the price of Dwarvish gear is not reasonable for most exporters. Clockwork on the other hand is highly desired but rarely approved for export.
Major Imports
Most imports are wood and food. The trees of the range are not suitable for much and are more trouble than they are worth. Food is present but not enough infrastructure has been allocated for sufficient amounts to feed the population.
Legislative Body
The Citizenry write the proposals for the Laws and Vote on them. A proposal may be voted on 3 times before being required to be withdrawn and changed. Within those votes the proposal must either garner a 66% majority on all 3 or more than half of the total Citizen population over all.
Judicial Body
The Judicial process is slow and the sponsor of the law violated, if alive, may rule on whether or not the law was violated if otherwise unclear.
Executive Body
Enforcement of the Law is done typically by the Citizenry themselves.

Peace

The Republic of Durost thinks The Motherland the underdogs and wishes them luck in the world. The Motherland thinks the Republic of Durost to be impractical and unfair in their choice to keep the entirety of the Mountains, but is unwilling to make an issue of it, again.

Peace

The Republic of Durost as a whole finds New Haven to be quite pleasant and a great get away. Unfortunate that the safe way is so long and the short way is so stressful. New Haven thinks Citizens of the Republic to decent spenders but being either very arrogant or very naïve to the social niceties.
