Aurok
With a haft nearly as long as a man is tall and a double headed blade the size of a wagon wheel, the greataxe Aurok is a fearsome weapon to behold but the true power of its construction lies buried within simple bronze and ash wood.
Forged for Ares on the anvil of Hephaestus, Hades' own hand poured out the souls of the ravenous damned by which the blades were quenched suffusing the weapon with a sinister intelligence and a terrible thirst.
For all that it is a majestic weapon capable of inspiring awe and decapitating dragons in the same, mighty swing, Aurok howls for the blood of the living. Inch by inch, it goads its bearer towards greater and greater atrocities, baying for the dark, rich, heart's blood of the innocent and the monstrous alike until its bearer is little more than a death-crazed fiend slaughtering entire cities for the simple, visceral joy of watching the streets run red.
Even Ares himself could not contain its horrible lust and nearly drove humanity to extinction upon their original home world before the might of Athena, Artemis, and Aphrodite Areia combined were able to pry Aurok from his grip.
Gathering the last vestiges of humanity from their shattered world, the gods carried them to Emeriss to begin again, entrusting Aurok into the care of Persephone who secreted the damned axe away within the underworld - where even the gods themselves fear to tread without the explicit permission of the lord and lady of the dead.
For millennia, Aurok remained in isolation, hidden among the fields of Persephone's twilight home.
Only when faced with an even greater threat than Aurok's hunger did she entrust it into the hands of another - the goliath Vaalu Dreamwalker Nalakiago who wielded it in her quest to stop the ascension of a new god and the sundering of a second world.
