Embla

The Embla system is the home of humans, fae, and laguz. Consisting of several worlds and moons, navigated by solar-sailing ships, and widely colonized by the three major powers.   Void travel is made possible only through the existence of the aether, a poorly-understood energy field that seems to permeate all space where there is little or no matter. Intelligent beings can survive in the aether, despite the absence of air, as can most animals found in the Embla system, though plants cannot draw sustenance from it and quickly perish in the absence of atmosphere. Through the combined use of contragrav devices, aetheric propulsion methods, and (most particularly) the golden solar sail, vessels can voyage from world to world, often in a matter of weeks.
