Himinbjorg, Home of Bjarnófærr

Amidst the snowy, rocky peaks of Fjallmuðr lies Himinbjorg, Mountain of the Storm, tallest peak in all of Aasveig. And atop its peak, ever-wreathed in crackling storms and whipping winds, legends tell that Bjarnófærr, Bear of Thunder, one of the Aasveigan gods and enemy of Fenryr the God-Wolf, makes his home. There are various myths and legends revolving around the peak, and the exacts of Bjarnófærr's den vary wildly from one retelling to another.   Some believe that the peak is a flat, circular plateau where he sits, ever-resolute and ever-vigilant, watching over the Clan of the Bear and Aasveig as a whole. Others claim that he rests within the peak, in a cavern of ice and stone, which calms the storm within the Bear of Thunder. But whatever each storyteller claims the den is like, they all agree on one point: Bjarnófærr rests atop the peak of Himinbjorg, shadowed and empowered by the ever raging storms surrounding the massive mountain. There, where rock and earth meets sky and storm, Bjarnófærr, Bear of Thunder, watches over Aasveig.

Himinbjorg's Truth

Himinbjorg's greatest legend is that it supposedly serves as the den of Bjarnófærr, Bear of Thunder; however, there are details and mysteries to know about the mountain that are unrelated (at least not directly) to its resident demigod. For that information, see it here.

Patron of the Bear Clan

Himinbjorg, and indeed all of Fjallmuðr, forms the northern borders of the fertile river valley that the Clan of the Bear calls their home. From almost any point in their territory, the people of the Bear Clan can see the legendary home of their patron god. This fuels even more legends and stories about the mountain, and the increased raging of the storms upon the peak in recent years have redoubled the faith of the Bear Clan that their god watches them from within the maelstrom. Many sages and shamans have claimed that they have felt the growing rage of Bjarnófærr ever since the Hunt of the Wolves and subsequent Wrath of the Bear a decade ago, and say that the fury of Himinbjorg, Mountain of the Storm is a manifestation of this.
