Feb 16th Session Report
The group ventured further into the kobold hovel within the ravines of the Spider Caves. The group entered through the portcullis without breaking it via Coco the Ever-present Helpful Turtle. The kobolds, alerted to their presence, blocked the path further into the cave with a Gelatinous Cube. Hannibal was quick to use his flame, which made a dent within the jelly-like mass. At the risk of expending too much mana, he told the others to grab a gobstone torch and burn the thing to the ground.
As soon as the group lined up to do such a thing, spears flew out from the sides of the room. The group was attacked from all sides by attackers using the holes in the porous gobstone rock to strike. The spears pierced the skin and opened the way for a tainted spear to lace the wound with a brownish green substance. Hannibal cut a path for the group, managing to get through the Gelatinous Cube in one swift motion. However, the rest of the group were not so lucky as they ran through the opening Hannibal made. Bas, the Hellhound of Syviss was struck through and pierced in the heart. The group quickly retreated to Coco over the raucous laughter of the Kobolds. Try as they might to heal Bas, life was slipping away. In the depths of the void that rushed to greet her and with it the maw of some great devil, a voice greeted her. ‘We will fight the darkness as one.’ With this, Bas let go and fell into the maw of darkness, only to be stopped short by a lost friend; Aradesh. Bas felt herself rushing back to her body. At once her eyes opened and her necrotic blackened flesh was healed. The group quickly healed what remained of her wounds.
In a fury that befits a Hellhound, Bas leapt from Coco and erupted into flames. Waves of fire crashed into the gobstone walls that the Kobold trappers hid behind and burned them all to a crisp. Wizening up to the tricks of the Kobolds, the group continued to a four-way intersection, making sure to keep in mind the trickery of the species.
The group decided to go left, up a stone stairway that turned out to be a filled with pressure plates. Carefully investigating the traps, they concluded that it was the stones that had moss on them that were safe, yet they could not find a path by only following the mossy stone. That is when Ded the Krug showed resourcefulness yet again, sniffing the air in a dismissive fashion, the group caught the lead. Some stones smelled like piss and some did not. Following their nose, they came to the top of the stairs.
After a withering start to the kobold hideout, the group decided to pitch their tents and bed down for the night, hoping to regain some of their sanity for the perils of tomorrow. Yet how much sanity can one regain when their dreams are plagued by whispers from a dark being at the corner of their mind. “Shilla’queb must feed. Shilla’queb must feed.”
