The Seelie Queen
The Seelie Queen is the leader of the Seelie Court in the Feywild. She claims dominion over the unpredictable, vibrant beauty of nature, and her domain is under a constant midday sky. The Seelie Queen embodies Spring and Summer, and her powers grow as one approaches the equator. The Queen is always bright and full of energy. Though she is beautiful beyond measure, she is equally dangerous. The Queen thrives in the extremes. Zeal can quickly become a rage, and woe be to the one who displeases her. Much like the Unseelie King, no living creature knows her true name. She is a free spirit and cannot afford to be bound or controlled by anyone. Names, true names, hold power over people, and the Queen makes it her business to know everyone's.
Physical Description
The Seelie Queen wears a dress that changes colours with her mood and the seasons fashioned from the flowers and life around her. She has the ability to change her features as she wishes, but she prefers to maintain a look of delicacy and innocence. Her skins are almost always a deep brown like the soil. Her eyes standout being a startling blue like the skies above, and her hair is always long and styled to suit her mood. The Seelie Queen wears an elaborate headpiece adorned with gems, and, rumour has it, the mantle gains more gemstones for each true name she acquires. The value of the gem corresponds to the power its representative being possessed.History
The origins of the Seelie Queen are unclear at best. One tale tells of how both the Unseelie King and Seelie Queen were spawned simultaneously from Sylvanis, Father of the Wilds while he shaped the natural biomes of the world. According to this telling, Sylvanis created them to maintain balance in the natural world, giving and taking from the mortal races in equal measure. The Seelie Queen was made to represent the chaos, beauty, and energy of nature while the Unseelie King represents change, natural order, and entropy. The two have been at odds since the moment of their birth. In another tale, the two were elven lovers from a time even before the great city of Myth Deios. They didn't follow the ancient elven creed of subjugating themselves to nature's whims and sought to conquer it. The details are lost to time, but in the end, whether through struggle or godly blessings, they were made into physical manifestations of the natural world, consistently at odds yet forever drawn together. This tale is popular among sailors and those who live in areas frequented by storms. According to these locals, the storms are caused by the passionate and unbridled love the two share when they are together.Current Reign
The Seelie Queen reigns with a court of seventeen of her most valued High Fey. Who makes up the court changes as often as the direction of the winds. Five of these court members are representatives of Spring while the other twelve represent Summer. The Queen's extremist nature pushes her to favour Summer, the hottest and most vibrant of the seasons. The Queen's Vernal courtiers often parlay with the Autumnal agents of the Unseelie King for matters concerning both courts and the well-being of the Feywild as a whole. The Summer courtiers, referred to as Sommar, are attendants to the Queen's needs, and they govern all of her lands so she may occupy herself with whatever she fancies at the moment. Below the High Fey, the Queen prefers to let all her subjects roam and interact with one another how they please. It is the loosest possible form of governance, which borders on anarchy. The only thing keeping the Seelie Court from collapsing are the names of key court members the Queen has in her possession and her subject's desire to keep her from becoming angry with them. The Queen's power warps reality around her when she is in the Feywild, and it is only rivalled by that of the Unseelie King. The fear and love she instills in her subjects with her power and bestowing them near-absolute freedom, respectively, are enough to prevent the Unseelie Court from advancing beyond the Fields of Equinox.Biographical Information
