Violet Topaz

Family of The Oligarchy of the Isles...the Golden Six . The only one which follows a maternal line. The women are all beautiful, strong and determined. They are rivaled in diplomacy only by Scion Foxglove and his clan. The current leader, Violet, is young, having just taking over the rule of her clan 5 years ago. She is unmarried and uses her single status as a key to her diplomacy, allowing several families to think that she may be willing to marry one of their second sons. The family trade in gems and have unimaginable wealth, they are without a doubt the wealthiest of the six. They are not afraid to use their wealth to hire mercenaries should the need arise; this general knowledge means that their status is rarely challenged.
The Topaz family uses magic fairly openly, and they teach their staff how to use it, openly flouting the anti-magic laws, but they do so with discretion and are so rich that no one is going to stand up to them.
Violet is the Eldest in her family, she has a younger sister Amber and a younger brother Garnet. Garnet may be a possible threat to the plan to make magic legal.
