Ashwind Fernleaf

Ashwin Fernleaf is the son of Rockflint Fernleaf and the heir to the Fernleaf family of the The Oligarchy of the Isles...the Golden Six . He and his father have been at odds for years...his father is rigidly opposed to magic on moral grounds, Ashleaf wants to find a way to incorporate magic openly into the way of life on the islands, rather than having it be something which is used exclusively by the rich and well connected and in secret. He is ready to take over leadership of his family, but his father is unwilling to relinquish control.
In addition to his interest in magic, he has been a lifelong student of science and philosophy, and would like to create a more equatible society with resources available for all. He is quiet and introverted, and finds the complex diplomacy necessary to succeed within the Golden Six exhausting, however he has been steadfast in his efforts to ensure that his points are heard. His ideas about sharing magic openly are not popular; there is fear among the other families that this would weaken their position of power.
