Week 1
Assignment 1 - Consider what kind of changes would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.
Theme and genre do neither have to change nor can they. The world is bound to a book which will be finished hopefully soon and well be rewritten afterwards. But the progress of the book have made some points clear and discovered new areas, items and character but most of all places. All of these will have to be commited into the world and hance will be perfect for summercamp.
Assignment 2 - Based on this, decide how many prompts you'll go for during Summer Camp. Then, download the pledge document and fill it accordingly!
DONE
Assignment 3 - Get your categories and tags organized!
Categories are fine as they are. Tags are few but those are used well enough. I for one do not realy work with tags as of now since the focus is on the book rather than the world and the tags will follow with the next big reorganisation.
Assignment 4 - Take a look at your meta, primer, and any other high-level document and update it according to the current state of your world.
Since book is not yet finish, nothing has to be changed here - so I thought. Luckily I looked at it and changed a few minor things.
Week 2
Assignment 1 - Consider what kinds of refuge would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.
The main character and most of the other important ones do find refuge rather in people and communities than locations. Not only because the story is driven by a journey but also because the stories are driven by characters in places and events rather than events happaning to people in places. (Which I guess is the case most of the time)
Assignment 2 - Find a community—whether that’s our Discord server, Facebook Group, your RPG or friend group, or something else.
I will consult with a few of my friends about this and enjoy a few creative streams while writing.
Assignment 3 - Find ways to improve styling and layout in your world!
This will have to wait till I am done with my studies and have a little more free time. I wanted to add some sort of interactive breadcrumbs, new CSS a little further down the line and the biggest one, a new layout for all my pages. It took me some time to figure out how this should look.
Assignment 4 - If you’re a CSS wizard, maybe take the time now to give it a polish!
See above.
Week 3
Assignment 1 - Consider what kind of beliefs would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.
While religion is not a big part of my world (yet), there are ancient beings which are seen as superior and respected as such.
It is beliefed that, depending on your magical abilities, they have greated everything and gifted magic to the world.
To add to this I want to build out a few more conerstones about the current image those "beings" have, slighly change ther impact to some things and introduce a little bit more about the first true religion. (Which is basically done - but has not been part of any stories yet)
Assignment 2 - Create a bank of inspirations! Quotes, music, description of experiences and shower thoughts, etc.
DONE - I always have then on hand anyway ~
Assignment 3 - Find art and pictures that inspire you, and grab a map if you don't have one (and need one).
Map has been done and is a little further ahead offline - might be a good time to update it again. I usually try to find at least one image as well as music to link to important articles. This has to "simmer" a bit though, hance I tend to add them a few months after writing an article.
Assignment 4 - Check your inspirations again. Are they still relevant? Can you find any that better represent the current state of your project?
I do this rather regular, hance the focus of the book changed a bit, the story arcs got moved around a little, magic and powers changed slightly.
Since I study creative writing at the moment, quite a few changes came from simply understanding stories and structures behind books better, I had quite some nice ideas for shortstories to, which in turn changed the world a little. I also listend to a few new audiobooks and even read one on a totally unfamiliar genre - way more ressourceful than I thought. Watching a few new series has sparked yet again new ideas and wild concepts and combinations. Getting out into the world and traveling a little, visiting a festival and such was a good source of new experiences which in turn might lead to some great ideas, one never knows!
Week 4
Assignment 1 - Consider what kind of decay would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.
Quite a lot actually, fitting the "original" idea of the story which started the world in a first place. The most important part is the moral decay which followed after some sort of utopia. This was in turn triggered by the decay of duty - leading to not protectiong what needed protecting the most just because it seamed not necessary then. While writing the first draft I noticed, that even more things "fall apart". Some social structures, well known "paths of life", organisations and last but not least the world itself.
Assignment 2 - If you like special tea when you write, stock up for a month. Tidy your office, make a “do not disturb” sign, and think about any other last-minute strategies to optimize your writing space and time!
All stocked up - "I might have a problem"- amounts are being hoarded. But htere are so many great leaf teas. Also water and coffee and some juice.
Maxing out the little time I find is where I struggle the most right now but ~ I have the feeling I am getting better. Hopfully summercamp will restore m writing habit I lost a year ago.
Assignment 3 - Review your world homepage to hook potential readers!
One of the many parts I will have to neglect (for now). I have to get the book and the studies done, before I can fix some flaws in my world (Which in the very least I have written down.) For now I am happy and are not willing to focus away from what realy has to be done.
Assignment 4 - Take a look at your author profile and pillar articles on your world and polish them!
Basically the same answer as above but I have to keep the balance between forcing world onto my book and the book onto my world. THe polish will come once I know that all the things I thought of are realy fitting the story I try to write. Polsihing something that might be kicked from the book is just not worth the time. Sounds harsh, but is the truth.
