Elucain

Elucain is a deadly chemical poison first invented by Sir Selkus for torture purposes during the Blood Reign of Farin the Great. It causes a non-infectious illness that is fatal if left untreated.

Transmission & Vectors

Elucain is a liquid formula and is thus only harmful when ingested. It cannot be transmitted.

Symptoms

In the early stages of this illness, the victim will usually suffer little, experiencing a slight fever, sore throat, and headaches. As the poison enters the blood stream, the pain will intensify, causing a high fever, coughing, chills, muscular cramps, dizziness, and vomiting. In the last stages, the pain will come to a climax and the sufferer will float in and out of consciousness. There is no medical remedy beyond this point and the victim will die writhing in pain.
This all takes place within one to three weeks.

Treatment

There is only one known cure and that is Callio leaves, which come from the ancient, multi-purpose herbal plants used by the Dragons. Although once abounding in great supply, this species of plant has almost disappeared all together. It is extremely difficult to find.

Prognosis

If Elucain is ingested and not treated in the early stages, it becomes fatal.
