Concordis Mechanica

With the fall of the kalydrid empire, a lot of the technology used by it became obsolete or running with a limited lifespan remaining. Whilst the eltari and other races with access to more potent magic were happy to fall back on their own devices for general quality of life improvements, the races that were less fortunate with magical talents were left in the dust of a broken empire with their entire way of life left in turmoil. To this end, the Concordis Mechanica was established. Consisting of engineers and crafters with the intention of working with the base technology left inert and reverse engineering it to kickstart future developments to provide some semblence of technological comfort to those who depended on it.    The Concordis Mechanica's early humanitarian efforts provided a lot of support from official bodies trying to stabilise, and gave them a great amount of funding from across the worlds they had established themselves on once the post-empire economy began to return to some semblance of normalcy. To this day they remain a powerful force within the unified galaxy, spearheading progress in the field of engineering and providing all sorts of mechanisms for all aspects of life from central heating and water purification to interstellar travel. In fact, it was the Concordis Mechanica themselves who managed to create astral aetherchasms after the daemonic incursions to allow a limited form of faster travel across the universe.    There are some concerns with the modern day dealings and practices of the corporation. With the funding they receive from multiple governments, there's been questions of them overstepping their bounds when it comes to fair competition with other manufacturers, especially small businesses that they can easily strongarm into precarious positions, and ever-increasing prices that's going in increasing quantity into the pockets of the executive board rather than further research. Whilst this is slowly sowing discomfort in their consumers, their near-monopoly doesn't provide many alternatives, and the potential of morally dubious tactics being at play to prevent cheaper options from flourishing is often discussed in hushed tones amongst friends. Some even consider the Concordis Mechanica as a political power in its own right given their wealth and influence far exceeds many of the planets they trade with.
