Cauron (kaʊ - raan)

Cauron is the second largest continent on Elsinya, it lies directly to the south of Alnn, the two continents are sometimes referred to as the 'Western Twins' due to their proximity.  Cauron has perhaps the starkest variations in climates found anywhere on Elsinya.  To the east of the (Name Temporary: Veinhammer Mountains) the thin strip of land is lush.  Ample rainfall gives the region vast dense tropical forests that stretch nearly along its entire western coast.  On the western side of the Veinhammer Mountains, the land becomes dry and arid.  High mountains plateaus, dry steppes, and vast deserts dominant the vast majority of Cauron.  The largest desert in the world is found here.  The north of Cauron is less dry than its interior, the mountains here receive rainfall on both their western and eastern flanks. The region is also crossed by numerous valleys and canyons before giving way to rolling hills of the northern peninsula.

Geography

The western portion of the continent is dominated by the massive Ilenhal Desert.  The desert is bordered to the north, east, and south by the Veinhammer Mountains.  There exists a narrow strip of land between the Veinhammer Mountains and the eastern and southern coast.  The eastern coast of Cauron receives large amounts of rainfall with heavy forests covering this thin strip of land.
