Elosia is a low magic, low fantasy D&D campaign set in the years following a global cataclysm that shattered the moon, raining meteorites down on the surface until the remains coalesced into an asteroid belt visible from any point on the surface of Elosia.   Here is what is known; Legends say that the world was once ruled by a race of powerful beings, that called themselves The Risen. They lived in vast citadels that floated in the sky and they controlled all magic.   Magic was the leash and the whip and the executioner's axe. And the Risen made sure that only they would wield it.   The slave races still had hope because the gods were still with them. The faithful prayed on behalf of the people and those prayers were answered. They could survive, grow crops, even raise families because the faithful knew that the gods were there, and their influence could still be felt; healing injuries, soothing the sick, driving away famine and fear.   But over time, that influence waned, and as it faded, so did hope.   No-one really knows why the miracles stopped. Some feared that the Gods had turned their backs on the slave races, others claimed that the Gods had fled or died. Others felt that the Risen's mastery of the Arcane was such that they could challenge the Divine themselves, such was their absolute authority.   All that is certain is that when the moon, Hedris, cracked and fell in burning pieces, destroying cities and sending clouds of dust and ash into the skies, the world and all the people on it had a chance to start again. If anyone was left alive to see it.   Now, the elders and wise-folk talk of the Moonfall as a cleansing. Wiping the sin of magic from the land, leaving it for the survivors to rise again and live free of arcane shackles. For as the shattered pieces of Hedris fell to ground, so did the citadels of the Risen Empire.   After untold centuries scraping an existence from the devastated landscape, sheltering in deep cave systems, or constantly moving, searching for a safe haven from the meteors that rained down from above, the free peoples of Elosia finally had a glimmer of hope again.   This campaign starts approximately 100 years after the survivors of the Age of Devastation have started rebuilding civilisation; raising settlements and recovering the lost skills and technologies that were once part of daily life. Who knows what may be discovered buried in the ruins of a fallen empire?
