Kobold are small creatures that usually live in tribal societies. The few ones that migrate to civilized societies normally end up becoming thieves or finding jobs as rogues.

Kobolds are small and usually have their bodies covered in scales. Their bodies are specially developed for the life underground, and usually they don't go under sunlight.

Kobolds tend to reproduce very fast. They would be much more numerous by now if kobolds also didn't have a high mortality rate due to starvation.

Kobolds grow very fast, and usually reach adult rate at the age of 6.

Kobold mostly live on tribes. Some of these tribes settle near humanoid societies to steal things, but most kobolds prefer to stay far away from humans for fear of retaliation. Due to the shortage of food, Kobold tribes are usually pretty small, having less than 100 inhabitants.
Kobolds that were captured as slaves and somehow found their freedom end up living in human society afterwards, though given to their appearance they are most likely prone to turn to a life of crime.

Kobolds mostly sustain themselves by eating what they hunt or gather in forests.

Kobolds that live in civilized society usually associate themselves into small groups, and select a leader. Sometimes kobolds register in guilds and when they do, they usually live among their guild members to avoid contact and confusion with other people.
Recently, several kobolds became pirates, and are navigating the sea.

Kobolds are not too fond of clothing. The ones that live in the woods tend to wear very few clothing, if any of all. Normally just some animal skins around their waist.
In urban centers, Kobolds tend to wear robes that can cover their faces, in order to hide their identity and not attract the attention of the local populace.
History
Kobolds usually have a pretty hard life, and their existence is a constant battle for survival. It is known they degenerated from the same species that gave origin to dragons and dragonborns, but Kobolds had had nowhere near the success both species achieved. Kobolds usually live a very tribal life, away from any civilized society if they can help it.
It is known that Kobolds once lived in society among the Dragons. At some point of their history, the Kobolds began to emigrate to forests. It is unknown if the reason for such immigration was caused by some displeasure the dragons felt towards the Kobolds.

Kobolds hate Gnomes , and will usually hunt them down and even kill them when the two races come into contact.
Kobolds are treated by all civilized races as small thieves by default, given the experience these have had in the past with kobolds.
