Grung
Basic Information
Anatomy
Grungs are humanoids that look like frogs. They are normally small and fast, and their skin is poisonous. Their legs are adapted to jumping and can breath underwater.
Biological Traits
They have highly poisonous skin.
Genetics and Reproduction
Reproduce at the same rate as humans.
Growth Rate & Stages
Grungs reach maturity really fast, and a grung becomes a full adult in only 3 or 4 months.
Ecology and Habitats
Since Grungs require water to survive, they normally live in tropical warm places with plenty of water.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Grungs normally eat vegetables or bugs. They also tend to fish.
Biological Cycle
Grungs can live entirely submerged on water for the whole winter during warm places, and dries tend to reduce and starve grung populations.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Grungs are mostly tribal, living away from civilization. They usually organize themselves in castes, depending on their skin color. Purple leads among green or blue grungs, and yellow are magic users ruling over purple grungs. Orange are leaders among the Purple Grungs. When present, Gold grungs usually lead a tribe.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The grung skin is very valuable in the produce of toxins, and for that reason grungs are hunted and killed.
Facial characteristics
Grungs look like frogs, and usually have big black or yellow eyes.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Grungs normally form small tribes in warm tropical forests or places with lot of water.
Average Intelligence
Same as a human.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Grungs prefer simple names, in their natural language. The names are unpronounceable by humans because they sometimes rely on croaking, so Grungs who immigrate to human societies tend to adopt human names.
Average Technological Level
Tribal.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Grungs speak the Grung language, a guttural language that is almost impossible to speak by outsiders.
Common Dress Code
Grungs usually don't wear much in terms of clothing, as clothing tends to be impair their natural defenses.
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Grungs culture is tribal and organized in castes, even in larger villages. A golden grung will normally lead a big settlement, and orange grungs will lead smaller ones.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
The caste must be respected. Disrepecting a member of a higher caste could mean death for a Grung.
History
Grungs are unique in the way that they were not created by any god, but they developed from frogs (though whether a god had or hadn't something to do with it is unknown.)
Since their discovery Grungs have been frequently hunted due to their skin, which is a highly valued ingredient for powerful poisons. Because of that, they didn't mix very well with civilized societies, and have kept to their tribal ways. Some grungs, however, have emigrated through the ages to human societies.
Poachers and slavers found Grungs extremely useful in keeping their prisoners poisoned and therefore docile, so several Grungs found success in the slave market.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Grungs tend to stay away from other species. Species usually tend to see Grungs as slavers or assassins, as as such the Grungs are extremely prejudiced (not without reason) in society.
Humans sometimes accept Grungs in their settlements, specially in more run-down lawless places. Elves and dwarves tend to kill Grungs that approach their cities, taking them for slavers or spies.
Lifespan
80 years
Conservation Status
Grungs are extremely rare. They have a risk of becoming extinct.
Average Height
70 cm - 1m
Average Weight
30 - 50 kg
Average Physique
Grungs are small and agile. They tend to be more well built than humans on average, but are usually not very strong.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Grungs are usually either green, blue, purple, yellow, orange or gold skinned. Their skin is full of black spots.
