Nanine

A computerized cell. Nanines have specific programming that relate to their flavor. Nanines often work by rearranging atoms or manipulating fields: electronic fields, quantum fields, or probability fields. Those with certain Abilities can influence the manipulations of Nanines.

• Seedlings: the programming of these nanines are focused on stimulating growth within inorganic materials. Certain conditions must be met for the programming to activate, and then careful watch is needed to shape the growth into the item or building material or structure needed. Seedlings have a very limited range, and a very short cycle, where the growth stimulation and shaping can be influenced. The nanines are extracted from the inorganic materials through the use of magnets or individuals with specific Abilities.
• Nervelings: the programming of these nanines focus on entanglement with the cells of a living creature. They then become extra-sensory organs for the sentient creature, or disposable scanners that examine the interior of a living creature to assist with medical technology and diagnosis.
• Vatlings: the programming of these nanines are not as well researched as the other flavors due to the difficulty in obtaining the vats that contain them, and the difficulty in transport. The programming seems related to Seedlings, but instead of stimulating growth, vatlings use the provided matter to build a lattice of design that is transmitted to it via specific wavelengths. Vatlings are a large neuro network within the vats of semi-liquid of which seem to be the embryotic fluid that allows them to function.

Seedlings are the most common nanine for use in Growth seeds.
Nervelings are the most common nanine for the extra-sensory organs within humanity's brain and nervous system, which is where the seven Abilities derived. These nanine follow the mitochondria line of cells, and so are passed down by the person who carries the child. This is how some families can have one or two Abilities throughout generations with little deviation from them.
Vatlings can be used to organize matter into various objects and structures depending on the input commands. These vats were self-contained in huge underground storage left over from Dragios occupation of the planet. It is only in the last century that humanity has been able to reverse-engineer some of these vats to use as assembly machines for specific types of manufacturing.
921 years after their discovery humanity managed to create their own nanos with similar functions, but with less invasive growth and entanglement programming. Most human-made nanos are used in the medical fields. Humans have yet to create a nano that rivals the Dragios Nanines in the manufacturing industries; however, after centuries of careful research, humans have managed to adjust programming for some flavors of nanines in order to create safer and more productive types for industry.
