The Single Step Tavern

A small roadhouse on the eastern edge of Eleston, The Single Step stands along the road a few miles before Somnambulist Pass. Run by Brigadian barbarian Ylander since before The Rending, the tavern was once the most inland server of northern ales and traditional Brigadian salted fish. Since The Rending merchants and haulers no longer cut through Eleston from Brigadian lands, so The Single Step's offerings are now an eastern imperial medley of primarily wine, dumplings, and borscht.
As The Single Step lies in an isolated region between several mountain passes, continental currencies and barter are all accepted as payment for food and lodging at the tavern.
The clientele of The Single Step are few and far between in recent times, but enough still seek the pass to Eleston to keep it running. There are even rumours that Ylander has noble patrons who wish to keep the path to Eleston open and subsidise the tavern's expenses in return for Ylander's continued support of the occasional excursion into the region.
